When I
first read this book, I died and went to heaven. The second time I read it, it
brought me back to life. Willow is a beautiful,
inspiring YA book that will
quite literally take your breath away, make your heart race, and fill your eyes
with tears.
I
adore Willow in this book. She’s vulnerable and miserable but she’s also such a sweetheart; kind and
thoughtful. She’s the kind of character you want to keep cupped in your hands
and protect them against the world like a little kitty.
And
Guy is the perfect, well, guy for her. He’s impossible to hate: cute, funny, charming and smart.
If I didn’t like Willow so much, I’d consider stealing him away from her… In fact, I would go as far as to
say Guy is probably one of my top ten favourite male characters.
Yes, he
is that amazing.
The
themes in this book are dark
and gritty, but it’s highlighted with a romance that had me squealing
throughout most of the pages. Willow and Guy are probably my favourite YA couple by far – they are perfection.
I also love the relationship between Willow and her family. After
their parents death, Willow is living with her older brother, David, and his
family. On top of the guilt of
their parent’s death and the
guilt for intruding on his perfect family, the connection between the two is
strained yet still so touching.
This
story is beautifully
emotional and will have you
bawling your eyes out for most of the book. So yeah, buy this book, make a cup
of tea (or whatever) check
that your mascara is waterproof, and read it.
